In a recent interview granted to the Japanese magazine Famitsu, the director of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars Tatsuya Ogushi, and lead planner Takahiro Sakiyama, explained that the new edition of the two games is based on the collection released years ago on PSP (Sony’s first portable console). If you don’t remember it, don’t worry, because it was only released in Japan (the collection, not PSP).
Same but different
It was Ogushi who explained that the source code used for the remaster is the same as the PSP versions. Naturally, many changes had to be made due to some problems, which are never lacking in similar operations.
Which? The two gave some examples, like that of a filmed sequence with Luca Blightwhere you could see a character on the side of the screen who was actually supposed to be invisible. Another example concerns the removal of a bug that prevented a recipe from being created. For the rest, especially the details have been perfected, such as the correction of some typing errors.
Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will eventually deliver two very different games compared to the PSP ones. Furthermore, there will be no extra content from the SEGA Saturn version, which evidently would have been complicated to implement starting from such a different platform.
For the rest, we remind you that Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2025. The original games date back to the era of first PlayStation and have been published all over the world.
