It is well known that a couple of years ago the latest installment of No More Heroeswhich presents us with the alleged closure of the adventures of the character of Travis Touchdown the protagonist of the trilogy, and that its creator nicknamed Sweat 51 is interested in bringing him back. However, it seems that the brainstorming is empty, and in a new interview the doubts about the return have only increased.
During the ‘MomoCon 2024’ last month, Goichi Suda He noted that the rights to the series obviously still belong to Marvelous (rather than his studio Grasshopper Manufacture, which joined NetEase in 2021), so he ultimately has no say in what should be done with the character.
Here what was mentioned:
Suda51: Honestly, even I don’t know. Of course I would love to see it again, but to be honest, it’s just not my decision.
Here is the character description:
Travis is a die-hard otaku who lives in the fictional town of Santa Destroy, California. One day, after running out of money, he purchases a Beam Katana at an online auction and decides to become a professional assassin. His main objective in the first game is to rise through the ranks of the United Assassin Association, going from number 11 to number 1, eliminating other assassins in the process. Throughout the series, Travis faces various challenges and enemies, each with their own peculiarities. His motivation and background are further developed in the sequels, showing an evolution in both his abilities and his character.
For now the future of the franchise is uncertain, so we will have to see if the rights are sold or similar.
