Floods have submerged more than 200 villages in Bangladesh so far, leaving more than 150,000 people stranded and killing seven people.
Water levels have risen in various rivers and new areas are vulnerable to flooding, according to the Dhaka Tribune newspaper published in Bangladesh on Sunday. The authorities are concerned about the severe damage to agriculture and crops. Local authorities, along with volunteer organizations and Bangladeshi border guards, are working to rescue people affected by the floods in the Sherpur area. Since Saturday morning, members of the Bangladesh Army have also joined the rescue efforts.
