In the crosshairs of critics
As has often happened to him throughout his career, Lance Stroll is in the crosshairs of criticism. The Canadian’s race results are controversial: on the eve of his home weekend the Montreal driver has won just a third of the points of his teammate Fernando Alonso (11 against 33) and in the standings he is also behind Yuki Tsunoda, representative of Racing Bulls.
The fact of being the son of the team owner, Lawrence Stroll, does not help Lance to enjoy a good reputation among fans since, contrary to what happens to many other drivers in his same situation on the grid his seat is in fact ‘armored’ by a blood bond which is obviously worth more than a thousand contracts.

The person concerned, however, returned the criticism to the sender by speaking to the Canadian newspaper TSN. Stroll in fact highlighted how the comparison in qualifying during this season between him and Alonso is balanced and indeed in the last three matches headed to Saturday he has always put the two-time world champion behind. “He is a two-time world champion and people see him as a top driver in Formula 1 and we are 4-4 in qualifying”, commented Stroll.
Stroll, however, justifies the difference in points in the race with ‘external causes’ that can affect the result: “The points can be a little deceptive because sometimes one can have a breakdown. This sometimes makes the difference at the end of the season. I look at my last weekends and think they were good. When I look at pace and speed, like I said, we are 4-4 in qualifying. People say he’s very good and I’ve beaten him in the last few weekends“.
