Let’s take a look at Stray Gods.
The Dragon Age writer David Gaiderafter his departure from BioWare, he has been working on a musical RPG in recent years called Stray Gods. Now the project has just received its first teaser trailer.
Stray Gods is from the Australian developer Summerfall Studios – of which Gaider now serves as creative director, having co-founded the company in 2019 – and was formerly known as Chorus: An Adventure Musical in the days of Kickstarter. Described as “an adventure partly based on fiction and partly interactive musical“, Stray Gods follows the story of Grace, a young woman whose life is turned upside down after the Last Muse of ancient Greek mythology died in her arms.
“Grace soon finds herself catapulted into a world of gods and monsters who secretly live among mortals in a tangled web of loyalty and betrayal.“explains publisher Humble Games.”Unravel the mystery of the death of the Last Muse in this interactive role-playing musical, where your song choices will determine where the curtain falls“.
While music plays a key role in the story, Summerfall wishes to emphasize the RPG component of Stray Gods, promising core elements of the genre such as branching dialogue, meaningful choices, as well as interactions and consequences that will shape the story. Acclaimed composer Austin Wintory will take care of the musical portion of the game, while Laura Bailey and Troy Baker will lend their voice acting talents.
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is currently confirmed to launch on PC and Summerfall says it will have more to share about the project later this year.
