The weekend premiered ‘Stranger Things 4′ and one of the things that its young protagonists are grateful for is the fidelity with which fans have followed the series over the years, especially the patience they have had to wait between seasons 3 and 4, which was prolonged due to to the pandemic.
“The fans are the best ever. I love seeing the posts I’m tagged in all the time on Instagram and the theories they have. I’ve been following their accounts since season 1… They’re so passionate about it. Even though there are long breaks between seasons, they post something about ‘Stranger Things’ every day. I just want to thank you for showing us love and support. I’m counting the hours until you see the new season, because it’s going to answer a lot of your questions.” the actor manifests through Zoom Caleb McLaughlinwho plays Lucas.
Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, warns that what happens next in the series could surprise: “This season is very scary. It’s a wonderful and necessary progression for the series. The story needs to be stepped up: characters can die and may not make it out alive; that should be made clear to the public,” he says.

The actress sadi sink (Max) hopes that fans will be surprised by the new villain. “I can’t wait for them to meet him, I think he’s great. I’m also excited about everyone seeing the characters they love grow up. We’re in high school now, that’s super cool. From the Dungeons and Dragons club to the basketball team, there are so many new and interesting places that we go to, and we also explore new topics.”
The actors acknowledge that it was difficult to re-record after so long, forced by the pandemic. “It was amazing. Initially, we went back to early 2020. Nothing was happening at the time, so it felt like going back to a normal season. But, two weeks later, the pandemic hit and we had to take a long break. Regardless, it’s always a joy to return to filming. I’ve been on this series for five or six years. It’s always good to see myself with the cast and be among great people before we get into this new world of ‘Stranger Things’. Every season is different, I love it,” says Caleb.
“We started filming season 4 in January or February of 2020. And then obviously we had to suspend. When we came back we found a different world, with the masks and all the security protocols that we had on the set. But going back to work after being in quarantine allowed me to appreciate what it’s like to be around people and to be able to do what I love. It was very motivating. It was very nice to be all together after so long without seeing each other”, says Sadi. “It was a wonderful feeling. I hadn’t realized how much I missed working and my co-workers. I’m so glad we’re together again,” adds Priah Fergunson, who plays Erica Sinclair, Lucas’s younger sister, now a 15-year-old teenager.

Gaten Matarazzo emphasizes that this season is the scariest. “Season 3 was very dynamic and bright. It showed us that happy and exciting summer. It was a kind of mask, because it was what we liked to see, what people wanted to project, when, in reality, terrible things were happening. Even the Starcourt Mall, the epicenter of our summer lives, was just a front. We all had to come back to the reality of what was happening in Hawkins.”
Priah Ferguson says that, off camera, everyone has fun. “The cast is very funny. Everyone always welcomes you, the cast and crew. We laugh all the time, especially with Gaten and Caleb, who are always joking around. Something about ‘Stranger Things’ that is always interesting is the sets and the props. They help you get into character, because they make you feel like demogorgons and all supernatural experiences really exist, so it’s easy for us to act.”
