“Stranger Things 4” arrived on Netflix after almost 3 long years without new chapters. The wait has been worth it! We are facing a season in which duffer brothers They have compensated for their absence not only with episodes of more than an hour, but with a story that takes its time to bathe in blood and that is never boring.
In this note we tell you with spoilers what we think of these first seven episodes that make up part 1.
YOU CAN SEE: “Stranger things 4″: Do Nancy and Max die or do they manage to save themselves from the clutches of Vecna?
80’s horror
we are back in hawkinsbut also in California and Russia: three scenarios that divide the stories of the characters in such a way that there is a lot to tell.
But beyond the places, we are in one of the most terrifying, scandalous and controversial times: the crazy 80s, specifically in the spring of 1986.
The Satanism, curses and grotesque and visceral crimes are the attraction of this season which, in the style of the Duffer brothers, evokes nostalgia with extravagant hairstyles and music of the decade.
YOU CAN SEE: “Obi-Wan Kenobi”: why is Leia more important than Luke Skywalker in the series?
The essence is not lost: this is a series that from its first chapter made it clear that its construction is based on a large number of references to cult movies (especially horror), and this is no exception.
The children have grown
The little group of friends who grew up in Hawkins ended up separating in the third season, in the midst of his adolescence. In this fourth part we see the consequences of this separation.
First we have Mike (Finn Wolfhard) Y Dustin as Gaten Matarazzowho try to maintain their friendship with Luke (Caleb McLaughlin)who over time seems to have grown tired of being a nerd at school.
then they are raise (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp), who have settled in California, but after everything that happened in Hawkins they have trouble socializing, which leads them to be victims of bullying.
YOU CAN SEE: “Elite”: it will not end soon, “minimum 10” seasons, advances creator of the Netflix series
And finally there is Max (Sadie Sink), who after the death of his brother has been left devastated and has become indifferent to his own friends in Hawkins.
In general, the development work of all these characters is very nice and consistent. It is clear that we are no longer facing innocent children, but rather misunderstood adolescents.
On the other hand they are also Hopper (David Harbour), Joyce (Winona Ryder) and a hilarious Murray (Brett Gelman). Neither one disappoints and the script does a great job of not leaving them as just a subplot.
Everything has a meaning and, although the actions of each one do not please us on certain occasions, it ends up being logical after everything that has happened.

new characters
Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson is the best addition to the cast this season. This is an extremely charismatic character who ends up tangled up in the middle of all the murders in town.
Eduardo Franco as Argyle, the ‘hippie’ friend of Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), also manages to get into the group of friends in a very pleasant way. It’s almost impossible not to like this guy.
Lastly we have Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard, whom we will later discover is Vecna. The work of this actor is good, especially in the gestures, but there is not much more to say.

A villain who could have come before
Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) arrives as the new villain of the series to make us understand that the one who was behind everything that happened in Hawkins was him from the beginning.
But this point does not finish convincing, because there were never any indications that someone else was behind everything, especially a being as powerful as this one; revelation only comes suddenly.
While his role in the season is compelling enough, he doesn’t quite feel like the world’s greatest threat, as the series stipulates.
YOU CAN SEE: “Ahsoka”: Rosario Dawson has copied the movements of the Jedi in the animated series
A remarkable dramatic turn
If the Duffer brothers got anything right this season, it was in the plot twist on revealing the identity of the main villain.
At the end of chapter 7 it is revealed that Peter Ballard, the number 001 of the Hawkins Laboratory, is Vecna, the culprit of causing the massacre of the children and not Eleven.
This is perhaps the best moment of the villain, since he rounds out his purpose much more and justifies his actions, becoming a powerful rival for Eleven.
