Storms | Hurricane Fiona continues its journey towards Canada

Hurricane Fiona has regained strength as she continues her journey towards Canada. Fiona is expected to reach the Canadian province of Nova Scotia by Saturday morning local time, said CNN.

According to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), Fiona has strengthened to a Category 4 storm.

As Fiona swept past the island nation of Bermuda, floods came in Fiona’s wake, leaving most residents without power. On Friday, the power company Belco said that 29,000 of the 36,000 households had electricity.

Emergency officials in Bermuda urged residents to stay indoors due to strong storms. The wind gusts were blowing at their strongest at around 44 meters per second.

No one is known to have died in Bermuda, and no major material damage has been reported.
