Galicia woke up this Sunday surrounded by torrential rains and strong gusts of wind throughout much of the territory, the first blows of the storm Herminia, which has left so far this day more than 180 incidents between falling trees and branches onto the tracks and flight delaysin addition to the paralysis of the railway connection between La Coruña and Ferrol -without serious personal injury, for the moment-.
The most affected areas are concentrated on the northwest coast of Galicia, with red alert for extreme risk established by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the Rías Altas (Ferrol, Betanzos and La Coruña) and in the surroundings of Finisterre, given the risk of waves that will be between 8 and 10 meters high and that could increase up to 10 and 12 meters at specific times. There is also the orange alert in the entire provinces of La Coruña and Pontevedrain addition to yellow alerts that extend throughout Galicia due to wind and rain.

Wind gusts exceeded 160 kilometers per hour in the Coruña municipality of Cedeira, while in Burela (Lugo) 151 kilometers per hour were recorded and in Vimianzo (La Coruña) they reached 144.8 km/h, all during the early morning and morning hours of this Sunday. So far this day they have also registered rainfall of 101.2 liters per square meter accumulated in Santa Comba, also highlighting the values of Rois (88.6) and in Val do Dubra (81.2), all of them municipalities in A Coruña.
More than 180 incidents this Sunday
From the Galician Emergency Agency (Axega) they count 187 incidents spread throughout the autonomous territory, being La Coruña the most affected province with approximately half of them (94), followed by Lugo (52), Pontevedra (28) and Orense (13).

Most of the incidents were related to the falling trees and branches on the roads, although there were also episodes such as that of a canopy of about three meters in Pobra do Caramiñal (La Coruña) that was torn off by the force of the wind and hit a vehicle.
Among the most notable conditions caused by the Herminia storm are also multiple delays in flights departing or arriving at Galician airportsas well as the paralysis of the railway connection between La Coruña and Ferrol, as reported by Renfe, which has an alternative road plan for affected travelers, in principle until the train that was to leave the Herculean city at 3:04 p.m. heading to Ferrol.

In addition, a tree fell on a car on the LU-122, at kilometer 5, in the municipality of A Pastoriza; a driver collided with a fallen tree on DP-1914, at kilometer 13, as it passed through Anxeriz, in the municipality of Tordoia; and another car collided with a tree on AC-14 as it passed through Culleredo.
Finally, in Burela, at 06:30 a.m., on Avenida de Arcadio Pardiñas, the strong wind several sheets of a roof fell off and ended up on the train tracksleaving them impassable.
