The maritime storm and the strong winds caused by the Caetano storm that has hit a large part of the country since Wednesday keeps three autonomous communities on alert today, with Catalonia under an orange warning, due to a significant risk.

In the Valencian Community the State Meteorological Agency activated the orange warning, although it was lowered this Friday morning. The same with the yellow notices of Cantabria or Euskadi. Meanwhile, they remain in Andalusia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands due to strong gusts of wind and intense waves.

In Catalonia, the “orange” warning from the AEMET is due to the strong storm and focuses on the coast of the Ampurdán region, in Girona, where the strongest gusts of wind can reach 100 kilometers per hour and the waves up to 4 meters.

In addition, the strong winds have justified the activation of yellow warnings in the communities of Aragon, the Balearic Islands, and also in large areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Community, and according to AEMET data, gusts of 70 and 80 kilometers per hour will be reached. and occasionally in some places up to 90.

The general forecast announced for today by the AEMET indicates that showers will be recorded in the northern half of the peninsula in the early hours of the day, as well as gusts of strong or very strong wind throughout the eastern peninsula.

The weekend will however be marked by stability, although it will be a transition between the passage of a front associated with Storm Caetano and the explosive cyclogenesis of Storm Bert over the British Isles, which will cause the approach of another cold front to the west. peninsula and the Canary Islands.
