This November 30, more than 150 organizations are mobilizing throughout the country to demand an immediate ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon. In Madrid, a demonstration begins at 6:00 p.m. and covers the route between Atocha and Callao. This protest is called by Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS).
“The Western world and particularly Europe, the supposed champion of Human Rights, is turning towards a war-mongering authoritarianism that is shocking. The market and the arms, media, political and financial complex intend to impose its narrative of fear on us and immerse us in a dystopia in which We don’t want to enter,” says the call.
The manifesto denounces the impunity of Israel’s actions over the last 77 years, including bombings of hospitals, schools, refugee camps and civilian areas. It also demands the imposition of a total arms embargo, compliance with the resolutions of the International Court of Justiceand the breaking of diplomatic and commercial relations with Israel. In addition, the organizers urge to strengthen campaigns such as the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)comparing the Palestinian struggle with the resistance to apartheid in South Africa.
At the Madrid event organized at 6 p.m., a RESCOP manifesto will be read that highlights the need to intensify actions by civil society to stop what they describe as a planned genocide.
According to the manifesto, these actions seek not only to make visible the brutality of the conflict, but also offer oxygen to a people that resists against adversity. The organizers remember that the struggle of the Palestinian people is “a global battle for a world without hatred, exclusion or war”, and call for continued mobilization to demand justice and structural change in international relations.
Previously, this morning, a rally at Puerta del Sol in Madrid demanded an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon. The protest was organized under the slogan For Peace. Cease Fire Now! Neither Terrorism, Nor Genocideand sought to denounce the escalation of violence and advocate for a just and lasting solution in the region.
The conveners, including unions such as Workers Commissions and UGTas well as thousands of signatories of platforms such as pararlaguerra.eshave highlighted the urgency of citizen mobilization in the face of the passivity of the international community.
