BRASÍLIA (Reuters) – The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) decided on Wednesday to dismiss the governor of Tocantins, Mauro Carlesse (PSL) for 180 days, as part of two complementary police investigations that investigate the formation of a criminal organization aimed at the committing crimes against the health plan of state employees, according to a statement.
The leave lasts for six months, but according to the court, it can be reassessed at any time.
The determination of the Special Court of STJ confirmed the injunction decision of Minister Mauro Campbell Marques. In the morning, the Federal Police carried out other measures aimed at dismantling the criminal organization and preventing acts of obstruction of investigations at the top of the government.
According to the statement, the inquiries, which proceeded under secrecy, indicated the presence of evidence of receipt of undue benefits related to the health plan and the formation of a structure set up for the laundering of assets, in an investigation that began nearly two years ago.
The governor’s office did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
