The great sci-fi strategy 4X Stellaris from Paradox it has already undergone many interesting changes and total conversions. After Star Trek, Star Wars or Stargate, now it is also the turn of Mass Effect. The mod Mass Effect: Beyond the Relays it was first released last year and relatively recently received another update. The aim of the authors is, of course, to create a real 4X strategy title set in the popular universe of BioWare.
According to the authors, the local map already contains nearly 400 star systems, mentioned not only in games, but also in books, comics or, for example, in the animated film Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. The authors have included three different game modes. It is therefore possible to choose between the traditional sandbox, the canonical mode that begins after the War of First Contact and finally the third hybrid mode. Already at the moment, the conversion plans to offer 24 different civilizations and, of course, fans of Mass Effect they will find various iconic locations in the galaxy from the original series.
Each civilization has its own unique aspects: this means that there will be a different way of governing and the choice of race will also affect the way you play. But it’s not just about research, extraction and defense. It is up to the player, for example, to join other species in the Citadel in an attempt to establish a larger order.
The developers also redesigned the game’s economy to align it with Mass Effect, adapt warfare, and present new threats. If the mod intrigues you then you can download it at this link.
