GSD reports new sales data for European market in April. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, April was a slow month for video games, with a single new game within the Top 10: Stellar Blade for PS5.
The ranking of the best-selling games (calculating per unit and adding both physical and digital copies) we see that the list is made up as follows:
- Fallout 4 (Bethesda)
- EA Sports FC 24 (EA)
- Helldivers 2 (Sony)
- Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar)
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision Blizzard)
- Fallout 76 (Bethesda)
- Hogwarts Legacy (Warner Bros)
- Stellar Blade (Sony)
- Fallout: New Vegas (Bethesda)
The data includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
Let’s delve deeper into the April rankings
A detail to note is the fact that in April 2023 there were two new games in the ranking, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Dead Island 2 which respectively obtained first and third position.
Obviously the most important data in this case is the Fallout’s meteoric rise, clearly conditioned by the arrival of the Amazon Prime Video TV series. The success of Fallout 4 is above all thanks to PC players, who are worth more than half of the total sales. Obviously these are sales at a significantly lower price than the new games, so the earnings could be less high than – for example – Stellar Blade.
EA Sports FC 24 beats Helldivers 2 by a small marginaccording to the data, while among those outside the rankings we find TopSpin 2K25 (12th) and No Rest For The Wicked (13th).
It is also indicated that console sales fell 47% year-over-year, with all three platforms experiencing significant declines. Sales of accessories fell by 17%: the best seller is the PS5 DualSense controller, which rose by 0.8% compared to March 2024.
