The reviews of Stellar Blade I'm online and this also means that the newspaper Digital Foundry was able to publish its technical analysis of the exclusive video game for PS5.
Digital Foundry explains that Stellar Blade was made in Unreal Engine 4 (remember that the most recent version is 5) and that the video game uses all the typical functions of the graphics engine. It also does not have Ray Tracing.
Overall, Stellar Blade makes sure to find a balance between graphic quality and performance, suggesting the attention paid by the developers in this regard. It supports HDR but doesn't use the PS5's calibration system.
Speaking more precisely about the performance, it is explained that the game is extremely fluid and does not suffer from loading stutter as happens in other games created with Unreal Engine 4 (think for example of Star Wars Jedi: Survivors). Digital Foundry also praises the loads, which take only a few seconds.
Stellar Blade's graphics modes
As regards the graphics modesthere are three:
- Quality: mostly offers a native 4K resolution with a frame rate of 30 FPS; only occasionally it drops and uses a dynamic resolution
- Performance: 1440p resolution with 60 FPS frame rate, with sometimes drops to dynamic resolution
- Balanced: a resolution between 1080p and 1440p, typically at 60 FPS, with occasional upscale to 4K
In Performance mode the frame rate is perfectly at 60 FPS, while Quality offers 30 FPS with adequate frame pacing. Finally, Balanced runs between 50 and 60 FPS and is best if you have a screen with VRR.
