The decarbonization process of the Stellantis range also passes through hydrogen. In this case it is more correct to talk about Stellantis Pro One, a division of the Italian-French group that deals with commercial vehicles, because it is precisely this segment that we are talking about: the company has in fact announced that it has expanded its production capacity of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with the start of production of medium and large vans in Hordain and Gliwice, located in France and Poland respectively.
Up to 500 km of autonomy
All fuel cell powertrain versions of the commercial vans feature the same technology used in the zero-emission BEV variants of the vehicles, with significant advantages such as shorter refueling times And a high load capacity. Some numbers: the second generation of the fuel cell system offers a record range in the segment of up to 400 km with refueling times of less than four minutes in the case of medium-sized vans, while 500 km of range and five minutes are reached for charging with large vans.
Varied range
We remind you that the Stellantis range will include eight versions of medium and large vans with hydrogen fuel cell propulsion produced in its factories: the models in question are Citroën ë-Jumpy and ë-Jumper, Fiat Professional E-Scudo and E-Ducato, Opel Vivaro and Movano, and Peugeot E-Expert and E-Boxer.
Hydrogen protagonist
“The initiative to include first medium-sized fuel cell vans and now also large vans in our production lines is a demonstration of our commitment to maintain leadership in the most cutting-edge hydrogen technology and to make it available to our most demanding customers – commented Jean-Michel Billig, Chief Technology Officer of Stellantis for the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles – The skills and dedication of our engineering teams and the effectiveness of our operational processes are essential to pursue the objectives of the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan and to maintain leadership in the zero-emission commercial vehicle segment”.
