An ambitious market affirmation program with the aim of becoming the first player in electric and electrified mobility. Stellantis looks far ahead and lays the foundations for the arrival of the new integrated platform system that will be the basis of the range of the group’s 14 brands over the next few years. Four new electrified architectures that will make it possible to produce 2 million vehicles each, with the desire to reach one market mix in Europe which is 70% represented by green cars already by 2030 making the total cost of ownership of electricity equal to that of endothermic in just 5 years.
To do this, Stellantis will invest over 30 billion euros until 2025 to electrify its range of vehicles and above all try to bridge the gap that separates the group from the competition. At the center of the efforts there will also be Italy. Starting from Termoli where the conversion of the existing production plant will lead to the birth of the third Gigafactory of Stellantis. The production lines for 4 new BEV models and the assembly line for batteries are planned in Melfi; in Atessa the Sevel plant will confirm its leadership in the production of commercial vehicles, also in the BEV variant and Turin will become a center of excellence and competence for the energy transition and electrification with the “Stellantis Turin Manufacturing District” project.
“The four platforms are designed with a high level of flexibility and sharing of parts, to create economies of scale”, said Santo Ficili, Country Manager of Stellantis in Italy. “In this way, each platform will be able to support production of up to 2 million units per year.” The four platforms STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large and STLA Frame will allow to embrace all types of vehicles, from city cars to pick-ups with the possibility of having a range of more than 800 km and half charging times.
