Less than a month after the previous milestone, Steam has established a new record for active players contemporaries. Let’s talk about beauty 38.35 million usersnumbers never seen before on Valve’s home platform.
The new absolute peak to be precise is 38,350,244 players and was reached today, Sunday 22 September, at 16:00 Italian time. Therefore, the record of 37.27 people connected simultaneously on 25 August and the record of 36.9 million on 1 July have been exceeded by over 1 million users.
Numbers doubled compared to the beginning of 2020
Wanting to look at an even bigger picture, from the record of 19 million players in February 2020 Steam’s numbers have practically doubled in about four yearswith the graph below demonstrating consistent and notable growth for the platform and the PC market in general, even after the injection of new users caused by the pandemic.
Today’s record in particular was achieved thanks to the usual well-known names such as Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2, as well as some of the hits of recent months such as Black Myth: Wukong and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 which reached peaks of over half a million and more than 100,000 players respectively on the day.
