This week the first models of Steam Deck have arrived in the homes of the players. Meanwhile, Valve continues to work steadily to support the console and expand the Verified program, which it now includes more than 1,000 games marked as “Verified” or “Playable”.
As revealed in Valve’s latest update, there are currently more than a thousand Verified / Playable games, to be precise 1,345. Of these 706 are “Verified” against 639 “Playable”. You can consult the complete list at this address.
For the uninitiated, the Valve team is reviewing the more than 50,000 Steam games available to verify full compatibility with Steam Deck, a monumental operation. Based on the results of the tests, the games can get three different stickers visible on their dedicated page: “Verified” indicates that the game works perfectly on the Steam Deck, without any additional work, “Playable” indicates a game that may require manual modifications by the user to play, while “Not Supported” identifies a game that is not compatible with the console.
The Valve team further explained that when deciding whether a game is “Verified”, “Playable” or “Not Supported” on the Steam Deck, it uses deliberately very rigid evaluation criteriaeven too much in some ways, which could be softened in the future.
“Our existing standards for titles to qualify for a ‘Verified’ or ‘Playable’ rating remain very high,” says the Valve team. “If a game shows controller button icons 99% of the time, but occasionally suggests” press F, “the title will be rated as” Playable “and not” Verified. “If 99% of a game’s functionality game are accessible, but opening an optional minigame causes a crash or a video tutorial does not play properly, the game will be rated as “Not Supported”. ”
“This is intentional: at launch, we felt it was more useful to avoid false positives (this game is” Verified “, but some parts don’t work), even at the cost of having some potential false negatives (this game is” Not supported “but I haven’t noticed any issues.) Even with current standards, at the rate at which we and partners are making improvements, we expect many titles to go from” Playable “, or even” Not Supported “over the next few weeks. , to “Verified.” We also anticipate a change in our standards and judgment methods since Steam Deck launch and an increase in customer and developer feedback. “
