More security in Valve’s ‘Tablet PC’ Steam Deck.
With an update, Valve announced that anti-cheat software Easy Anti-Cheat can be played on Steam Deck. Support on Valve’s “Hand PC” was facilitated by a direct collaboration with Epic Games, which will allow developers to enter the EAC easily.
“Our team has been working with Epic on Easy Anti-Cheat + Proton support for the past few months, and we are happy to announce that adding Steam Deck support to your games that already have EAC on will be an easy process that doesn’t require updating. binary codes, SDK versions or integrations with EOS. […] Along with last year’s BattleEye updates, the two largest anti-cheat services are now easily supported on Proton and Steam Deck. “
Initially, many developers thought the matter was more complex than expected, but it seems that Valve and Epic have found an optimal solution. Games like Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege and the Halo contained in the Master Chief Collection they use Easy Anti-Cheat, so simplifying its insertion on the Steam Deck was crucial.
Tomorrow the team will begin sending test data for tested titles that use anti-cheat systems, asking the developers if they can intervene in the current build for Steam Deck or if a new build needs to be shared.
