A general compulsory corona vaccination is still being discussed in Germany. The statutory health insurance physicians join the debate and say: Rather, all efforts should be directed towards boosting.
Berlin – The head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Andreas Gassen, rejects a general compulsory vaccination against the corona virus.
“Better than turning a big, uncontrollable wheel on the subject of compulsory vaccination and vaccination registers, it would be to focus all efforts on vaccinations and boosters,” said Gassen of the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. The KBV considers “the timely creation of a central register in preparation for a possible corona vaccination obligation to be unrealistic,” emphasized Gassen. The construction would “take months, maybe years”.
“You can’t seriously impose a compulsory vaccination on people and then find out that the effect of the vaccine only lasts a few months,” Gassen further pointed out. “As long as there is no final answer to the essential questions, politicians should keep themselves covered with announcements of mandatory vaccinations, otherwise, on the one hand, unrealizable expectations will be aroused and, on the other hand, unnecessary social conflicts will be fueled,” warned the KBV boss. “If not significantly more people are vaccinated at the end of the day, the compulsory vaccination will not do much apart from massive anger, aggressive demonstrations and a flood of lawsuits.”
The Federal Data Protection Commissioner Ulrich Kelber considers a vaccination register for a general vaccination obligation to be possible in principle. However, he warned in the newspapers of the Funke media group that politicians must first specifically name the goals they want to achieve with compulsory vaccination in order to assess whether a central vaccination register is necessary. “Then the necessary data collection and processing must be clarified, together with the necessary protective measures,” said Kelber. dpa
