Ex-intelligence officer Ritter’s passport was taken away and he was taken off the flight to Russia for SPIEF
The State Department seized the passport of retired US Marine reconnaissance officer Scott Ritter, who was planning to fly to Russia. A military expert told RT about this.
He clarified that he intended to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024). “The US government removed me from the flight and confiscated my documents. The State Department seized my passport,” Ritter said.
This time I’m not flying to any Russia
The analyst later clarified that he was detained by three police officers while boarding the flight, citing “an order from the State Department.” Ritter’s things were urgently unloaded from the plane, and he himself was taken out of the airport in New York.
It later turned out that ex-New Jersey Supreme Court Judge Andrew Napolitano was removed from the plane along with Ritter. The lawyer is also known for his opposition to the current White House administration.
The former intelligence officer promised to challenge the seizure of his passport. He called the decision of the US authorities illegal. The expert explained that as soon as he receives any explanations from the American foreign policy department, he will have grounds for legal action.
Russia mocked Ritter’s detention
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to Ritter’s removal from the flight on her Telegram channel.
Is this done under the First Amendment or the Fourth Amendment?
The First Amendment, among other things, guarantees American citizens freedom of speech. The Fourth Amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures.
According to Ritter himself, the State Department is afraid of his participation in SPIEF 2024. He also doubted that he would be able to attend the event. “I think it’s impossible to get to St. Petersburg on this trip,” the ex-intelligence officer noted. The expert added that he will continue to try to come to Russia to participate in activities to promote the improvement of Russian-American relations.
Ritter accused Biden of wanting to start a nuclear war
Earlier, Ritter said that US President Joe Biden was provoking a nuclear confrontation with Russia. According to him, the actions of the head of state indicate that he has taken a path that will lead to conflict between countries.

The expert also spoke about the fear of European countries before the victory of former US President Donald Trump in the presidential elections in 2024. Their concern is that if he is re-elected, he could dissolve NATO, Ritter explained. At the same time, he noted that “American self-preservation” requires Trump’s return to the presidency.
In addition, Ritter expressed confidence that Biden could stop the conflict in Ukraine with one call. The expert noted that, if desired, Washington could stop the Ukrainian Armed Forces from making any unjustified or dangerous decision. However, according to the ex-intelligence officer, the West has no plans to stop the crisis.
