The Cabildo Superior de Cofradías awards the distinctions related to the two Passion Weeks marked by the pandemic in a gala that opens at the Romea Theater
The brotherhood course received “its starting gun” this Sunday with the delivery of Distinctions from the Superior Council of Brotherhoods related to Holy Week in 2020 and 2021, two years marked by the health crisis and pandemic restrictions, in which the name of the winners, waiting for them to collect their recognition. This was explained by its president, José Ignacio Sánchez Ballesta, at the doors of the Romea Theater, which was the scene of a ceremony that premiered. “If we like how it looks, it will have come to stay,” said the presenter of the event, journalist Encarna Talavera. “This is an act to return little by little to normality, with the hope that this will be extended to the processional parades next spring,” added Sánchez Ballesta.
Among those attending the gala was the one who will be the preacher of Holy Week 2022, the journalist and former regional councilor, Juan Antonio de Heras, who is already mulling over a text with which he wants to “recover the spirit of the Murcian Passion and of those who have starred in it for so many centuries, from the word and contributing my personal experience ». “The best wish is not that there is a good proclamation, but that the processions can return to the street,” said De Heras, without forgetting that the brotherhood calendar is already intense and is not limited to one week a year. “In fact, on November 28 there is a concert in solidarity with Los Parrandboleros,” added Sánchez Ballesta.
He could not be present at the gala, within the brother family, José Ramón Guerrero Bernabé, Elder Brother of the Brotherhood of the Rescue, after the death this Sunday of his father, Antonio Guerrero García, for whom a prayer was prayed just before of the act. The event was enlivened by the marches performed by the Musical Group of Our Lady of the Virgin of Bitterness, from Paso Blanco de Lorca. The nearly two hundred attendees were able to enjoy them, including the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Pedro García Rex, as well as a large representation of the regional government, including the Minister of Economy and Finance, Luis Alberto Marín; that of the Tourism and Sports Presidency, Marcos Ortuño; and that of Education and Culture, Mabel Campuzano.
