Star Wars Outlaws, Kay Vess is inspired by Han Solo: new details on the Ubisoft game

Game Informer has published the complete video of the interview with the creative director of Star Wars Outlawsfrom which many have emerged new details on the long-awaited tie-in produced by Ubisoft, including the fact that Kay Vess is inspired by Han Solo but, uh, not only that.

In addition to the recent information on factions, reputation and combat of Star Wars Outlaws, Julian Gerighty spoke to the microphones of the American newspaper about the genesis of the project, whose development began after work on The Division 2 was completed.

For the Massive Entertainment team, being able to try their hand at a Star Wars game represented the realization of a dreamand so the studio launched into this adventure with great enthusiasm, determining in the initial stages what type of story they wanted to tell and choosing the outlaw fantasy theme.

When it comes to gameplay and structure, Gerighty said their desire has always been to create a huge open world complete with space travel and the ability to visit different planets.

The choice of the protagonist and her background is linked to the team's passion for Han Solorather than for Luke Skywalker: Kay Vess takes that type of approach to action but with influences from figures such as Indiana Jones and James Bond, as well as from the television series Scoundrels.

An unprecedented adventure

Kay's story is a maturation journey that leads the character to go through from being a low-life outlaw to a feared and respected fugitive by criminal syndicates, and to best tell this story it was essential to be able to count on effective staging with regards to the scenarios.

From this point of view the Snowdrop graphics engine was able to perfectly support Massive Entertainment's ambitions and their desire to create a rich, fascinating and detailed open world, full of exciting possibilities.
