Google Stadia has not met its objectives, will its technology be sold?
It would be an understatement to say that Google Stadia did not make a breakthrough in the market, thanks to an offer under the lines that did not make it preferable to traditional gaming systems, to the point that last year the internal teams closed their doors and the exclusives, which good or bad could do taken, have been canceled.
Having therefore remained with a valid but poorly used game streaming technology, internally renamed Google Streamby the way, Google has tried to sell what is left to Bungie, which was recently acquired by Sony. The deal, therefore, never went through, and Google continued to look for negotiations (for example with Capcom) and reuse technology – currently, according to employees and former employees, Google is 80% focused on this, relegating work on the consumer component to one-fifth of the effort.
Stadia, therefore, is no longer a priority for Google, which in any case intends “bring great games to Stadia in 2022“(another 100, specifically) despite not having reached the goal of one million monthly active users”for about 25%“.
