Stabbing farmer in Emilia, arrested: he is the serial killer who killed 4 people in Calabria in the 1990s
He would strike again, more than 25 years after the murders that had cost him a life sentence. Francesco Passalacqua was arrested on charges of attempted murder for attacking a farmer from Tolé, a hamlet in the Emilian municipality of Vergato.
The man, known in the 1990s as the “serial killer of the Cedar Riviera” for the four murders committed in his native Calabria, was released on probation three years ago. After the decision by the supervisory court of Genoa he was welcomed by a structure first in the lower Bologna area and then in a parish near Tolè.
Last Thursday, January 4, he allegedly inflicted a couple of stab wounds on a 65-year-old farmer who managed to defend himself, putting him to flight. The investigations led to the discovery of a chain torn by the victim during the struggle, on which Passalacqua's blood and hair were found.
Thanks to the testimonies of those who had seen him pass and some images from the surveillance cameras, the investigators managed to get to the 55-year-old originally from Scalea, in the province of Cosenza. The man, already sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000, will have to answer for attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and trespassing.
