Niki Tuuli will surely have a hard time forgetting the World Supersport Estoril weekend. The crash that occurred during the Warm-Up of the Portuguese round in fact cost the Finnish driver the amputation of three toes of one foot.
In the accident, his fingers got stuck in the chain of his MV and the gravity of the situation was immediately understood. In a first phase, the doctors had tried to save the fingers of the 26-year-old with a first surgery that involved the insertion of some nails.
However, the tissues were too damaged and circulation in the fingers had failed, so the doctors could not help but amputate them to prevent the picture from getting worse.

“Just a quick refresher on my condition. The first surgery took place on Sunday and in that operation they tried to put everything together with nails. The damage was so severe that my fingers didn’t survive even after the operation.” Tuuli himself explained with a post on Instagram.
“In the second surgery, unfortunately, the need to amputate my three fingers emerged! At the moment I am in a lot of pain; it seems that on Wednesday I will be able to go home. Thank you all for the messages of affection you have sent me, they are of great value to me” , he added.
Now it will be necessary to understand how long his recovery period will be, which will certainly not be easy, even if the Finnish driver does not seem to have the slightest intention of giving up for the moment …
