SSC Tuatara has done it again: the supercar of the US brand has never stopped chasing the speed record that was already its own, and in recent days with a new test on the Kennedy Space Center track it has managed to improve its record. This time the car reached 474.8 km / h in the 2.3 mile stretch of the track located in Florida: the test that was registered and certified by Racelogic using dual VBOX GNSS systems and an additional Life Racing GPS unit. This is how the fateful top speed declared during the launch phase of 508.73 km / h is approaching, a figure that would allow it to become the fastest car in the world.
Meanwhile, US brand CEO Jerod Shelby amazed everyone by announcing that he is working on one electrified version of the Tuatara: it will be equipped with a series of electric motors at the front, which will allow the car to be equipped with all-wheel drive and consequently to provide even higher performance. The SSC number one did not reveal any specifics regarding this new electrified version of the supercar, merely stating that the electrification will help improve the acceleration and dynamics of the vehicle. However, it seems that this version of the supercar will have a different name than the thermal car, e its production will be limited to a limited number of specimens.
At the moment it is not yet known when the model will arrive, but development is already underway and according to the latest rumors reported by Carscoops it will most likely use an engine 5.9-liter V8, the same one that equips the current thermal version of the Tuatara, which will be able to deliver up to 1,750 hp of maximum power when using methanol as fuel. In the meantime, SSC must guard against the rather fierce competition, and above all represented by Koenigsegg Jesko Absolutcapable of reaching a theoretical maximum speed of 531 km / h.
