Squid Game is the TV series of the moment and the data of Netflix confirm it. The platform announced a few hours ago that the South Korean survival drama was seen by 111 million subscribers, making it the most successful launch for a TV series in the popular streaming service’s catalog.
The confirmation came via a tweet from Netflix, which you can find below:
The first signs of Squid Game’s success came last month from the words of the Netflix co-CEO, who predicted that the TV series would become the most successful show ever. However, for the sake of completeness, it should be noted that historically Netflix data is based on the accounts they watch at least two minutes of a film or TV series within 28 days of publication on the platform. In short, it is not excluded that a fair slice of those 111 million spectators only watched the first episodes and then stopped viewing.
The previous record for views in a month was for Bridgerton’s first season, which had 82 million viewers. In top 10 of the most viewed in the first 28 days of publication on Netflix we also find Stranger Things, Tiger King and The Witcher.
