Good news for music lovers. In the last few hours, Spotify announced a new feature that allows users to share songs, playlists, audiobooks and much more, directly on TikTok. “Users can post to their TikTok ‘For You’ (FYP) using the popular green screen feature or Photo mode”clarifies the platform streaming musical. Or if you prefer, you can share your music with friends through private messages; Anyone who views content accompanied by a song, whatever the sharing method, will be able to tune into it on Spotify with a simple tap.
How does it work?
The function is incredibly simple and practical. Users who are listening to their favorite songs on Spotify can share them directly in two steps: Touch the share button located at the bottom right of the screen appand selecting the TikTok icon. In a matter of seconds, the song will be published on the platform.
Spotify takes a step further in interaction with other social platforms. Until not long ago, when users wanted to publicly share their favorite playlists, they were forced to do so by sending a link via DM, or by posting it in the caption accompanying the content or in the comments. However, in recent years social networks, especially TikTok, have become a key tool for discovering music and artists, so Spotify’s decision to simplify the integration between both platforms is not surprising.
The launch will soon reach all users, to try it for yourself you will just have to wait your turn.
The replacement of TikTok Music
After a year as a direct competitor to Spotify and Apple Music, the TikTok Music platform will close on November 28. In July 2023, ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, announced it as a “new kind of service that combined the power of music discovery with the best of streaming“; the catalog included music from record labels such as Universal Music Group and Sony Music.
The proposal landed in Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Singapore, although it never saw the light of day in the United States. The TikTok team announced its definitive closure, advising its users to support their playlists with other applications, as personal information and data will be automatically deleted. We leave you some tips to transfer your TikTok Music lists to others streamings.
However, TikTok’s nearly 1.69 billion active users will have a second chance to learn new songs, connect with other genres, and add new playlists to their Spotify and Apple Music ranks. This movement strengthens the relationship of the Chinese social network with music, a fundamental pillar of the trends that day by day go viral within the app.
