La Spezia – “Welcome Mister”. One month after the play-off with Hellas Verona which sanctioned relegation to Serie B, the new course of Spezia Calcio starts again from Massimiliano Alvini.
The news, in the air in the past few hours, is now official. Fucecchio’s coach sits on the eagle bench after being away released by the Cremonese. His goal as technical guide of the Ligurians is clear, also enshrined in the new agreement: to bring Spezia back to Serie A. Alvini, in fact, has “signed a contract with the club in via Melara until 30 June 2024, with an option or automatic extension in case of promotion”. An important message. Also for the square, which after the blow of relegation was anxiously waiting to discover the cards of a new draw.
The first, perhaps the most important, has arrived. It will now be up to the former Reggiana and Perugia to get to know the team and shape it in his image and likeness. also taking advantage of the newly opened market. Not an easy challenge. But not even something that can scare a coach who has been navigating the stormy sea of Italian football since 2001.
Signa and Quarata marked the entry of Alvini, who in the past also had a shoe sales business, into the world of amateurism. Then, in 2008, Tuttocuoio arrived and everything changed. Thanks to an extraordinary ride, the Tuscan led the Ponte a Egola team from promotion to Lega Pro. An exceptional result, which in 2015 earned him a move to Pistoiese, in Serie C. Albinoleffe and Reggiana, therefore, were the successive stages of a growing career. And it is precisely with the Emilians, in the 2020/21 season, that Alvini played for the first time in Serie B. Finally, after the experience in Emilia-Romagna ended, the coach moved to the helm of Perugia, a team with which he played the play-offs the following year, before leading the Cremonese in Serie A for the first eighteen days of the championship just concluded.
