D.he federal government’s advertising videos for the corona measures, which had caused a lot of excitement on social media, are met with approval by the majority. That comes from a poll of pollsters from Civey. 52 percent of the 5001 representative respondents think it is “clearly right” or “more or less right” that the government “uses ironic videos to call people to stay at home”. A third find this “clearly” or “somewhat” wrong.
In the spots that are set a few decades in the future, older people tell about the Corona winter 2020 in the style of a documentary. As young adults, they became heroes because instead of celebrating and getting to know people, they would have done absolutely nothing, because they didn’t go out for days, only ate pizza, watched TV and played on the computer.
After severe criticism, government spokesman Steffen Seibert defended the videos on Monday. It is not a serious guide. Reaching young people is difficult for the government, thanks to the videos, given the high number of views. The spots were produced by the Florida Reklame advertising agency, which belongs to the company run by moderators Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf.
The videos met with the greatest approval among voters of the CDU / CSU and the Greens: two thirds support them. A majority of voters from the SPD and the Left also consider them to be correct. Six out of ten FDP voters find the videos wrong, among AfD voters it is eight out of ten.
