Barcelona brings together between February 3 and 5 to the great Spanish wineries. Specifically, 1,266 producers will meet in two pavilions of the Montjuïc enclosure in Barcelona, in the Barcelona Wine Week (BWW), an event that prepares for the greatest edition of its history.
This wine party is, for many wineries, the best showcase and an opportunity to diversify and expand its markets. It will go 81 denominations of origin in addition to other quality stamps. For José Luis Benítez, general director of the Spanish Federation of Wine, “since its inception, the BWW has managed to listen and involve the sector to understand what the wineries need and be able to offer it to it.”
BWW in data
Since its first edition, four years ago, the BWW has not stopped growing. On this occasion, there will be more than 1,200 exhibitors, which represents 33% more than the previous year. The sum of a new space also implies an extension of 31% compared to 2024. We speak in total of 9,920 square meters of exhibition that will host 24,000 visitors.
In the Barcelona Wine Week 2025 more than 350,000 glasses of the best wines in Spain will be served in the exhibiting wineries, but also in a program of tastings and presentations, where old strains wines will be the great protagonists.
It highlights the participation of reputable winemakers such as Raúl Pérez, from El Bierzo, for many the most influential winemaker in our country; or Fernando Mora, from Bodegas Frontonio, Master of Wine and preparing of some of the most reputed garnachas in the world. Under the title Old strains, historical heritagethese and other outstanding winemakers, who have in common the elaboration of wines in vineyards between 50 and 300 years, will share their knowledge with the attendees.
It is expected that there will be more than 13,000 scheduled business meetings. On the other hand, about 20% of the attendees will be foreigners, a fact that has to do with one of the fundamental objectives of the BWW, whose title this year is Spanish wine challenges and opportunities.
New international clients
The stagnation of wine consumption and exports causes producers to have new potential customers and open horizons. Therefore, this year, the BWW is aimed at creating new business opportunities to the sector.
In collaboration with ICEX, a public entity whose fundamental mission is to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies, the BWW has reinforced the Hosted Buyers program, with which it selects and invites large importers and wine distributors from all over the world. The objective is that the event meets more than 770 international buyers from strategic countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, China, Germany, Japan or South Korea.
“BWW is the ideal showcase for, among all, to proudly launch an image of quality and diversity of Spanish wines very powerful for the benefit of the entire sector,” explains the president of the Barcelona Wine Week, Javier Pagés, who knows that one of the main objectives of Spanish wine is to grow and diversify markets.

Wines with character and history
“Without a doubt, the wine sector in Spain is synonymous with tradition, commitment, effort and quality, and if you also make a difference and publicize the story of its history with passion and creativity, the possibilities are enormous,” says Martín Tomás, territorial director of Cajamar in Catalunya. Expert in the accompaniment and impulse of Bodegas, Cajamar is the official financial entity of the BWW.
The diagnosis of Tomás is shared, for Benítez: “The wine sector in Spain is very diverse and is quite compensated and precisely one of our strengths is that diversity that leads us to elaborate throughout our country wines for all palates for all palates and tastes. ”
Among the BWW attendees will be signatures as recognized as Torres, VallFormosa, Lan, Matarromera, José Relatiente, Marqués del Atrio or Raventós Codorníu. But there will also be small producers grouped into 81 denominations of origin and other quality stamps such as Priorat, La Mancha or Jumilla. On the other hand, 100 small projects and microbodegas will attend throughout the country. “The success of the call, with 8 out of 10 wineries repeating participation, shows that BWW is profitable for all and has established itself as the best wine hall in Spain and one of the best in Europe,” says Pagés.
