GP Spain, the trust of McLaren
There McLaren arrives at the Montmeló circuit with the awareness of his strength. Miami, Imola, Monte-Carlo and Montreal confirmed the quality of the latest update package and its reliability on different tracks. Now here comes litmus test, and it could only be Montmeló, a circuit that the teams know by heart and which is extremely complete. Those who go strong in Catalonia usually go strong everywhere, and in Woking the hope is to close the Spanish GP by continuing the streak of positive results, also because the British haven’t been on the podium here since 2011 and haven’t won since 2005. With a couple like Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, also considering Red Bull’s latest difficulties, no result is precluded.
Norris’s words
“Last week I returned to the McLaren Technology Center to see the team and prepare for Barcelona. I always enjoy going to Spain, there’s always a great atmosphere from the fans and it’s a fantastic city. The track has some challenges, with a real mix of slow and high-speed corners, but I think we are in a good position to maximize our performance and get the most out of the car. We are focused on the goal“, these are the words of Norris to McLaren channels.
“It’s nice to return to Europe after the success of the Canadian GP. We were close to another victory, but I’m happy to have achieved another podium and important points for the team. We know we still have some work to do to win more consistently, but we are moving in the right direction“.
Piastri’s words
“In Barcelona I achieved some decent performances in the smaller categories and the car is fine thanks to the hard work done by the whole team. I can’t wait to race in Spain“, he added Plates. “Canada was another positive weekend for the team and I was happy to continue the streak of good results after Imola and Monte-Carlo. It’s a great feeling to constantly fight in front of everyone and be in contention for the most important places“.
