The Spaniard Paradiso was elected the best bar in the world, according to a ranking released this Tuesday (4) by the The World’s 50 Best Bars 2022.
The award jury is made up of 650 experts including journalists, bartenders and cocktail experts from around the world. Voting, confidential, guarantees seven votes for each member.
Located in Barcelona, Spain, the Paradiso bar is hidden behind an old fridge at the back of a pastrami shop in the El Born district. At the bar, craft cocktails take center stage, like the Supercool Martini, which uses gin to build an iceberg in the glass.
Held since 2009, the award had for the first time a winner outside the London/New York axis. The list of the 50 best bars in the world has representatives from 26 cities around the world.
The second place went to the London bar Tayer+ Elementary, with another Spanish bar, Sips, from Barcelona, in third place. The best bar in South America to appear in the ranking was Alquimico, from Cartagena, Colombia.
