The virulence of the third wave does not give the statistics a safe respite. But that is no longer news. The worst thing is that, one more day, the infections remained this Friday at the highest levels of the historical series. The 42,885 new cases in just 24 hours did not become an absolute record because on Thursday, in an unfortunate day, the new infections reached 44,357. Even so, the tension is very high. In fact, it is the third time this week that the country exceeds 40,000 infected daily, figures that far exceed the ceilings that the pandemic touched in the second wave (with 25,595 positives on October 30) or in the first, when it reached 9,500 infected daily, although then the detection capacity was much lower.
