Attack with katana blows in two churches of Algeciras, in southern Spain. A sacristan died while four other people were injured, among them a parish priest who is in serious condition. As reported by judicial sources to Europa Press, the Spanish national prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into terrorism. The perpetrator of the act, a 25-year-old of Moroccan origin, was arrested: according to what Adnkronos learns, it would be Yassine Kansar.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, the man first had an argument with the pastor of the church of San Isidro, who he then attacked with a katana. The attacker would then have moved to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Palma, the main one in the city, and there he would have killed the sacristan, Diego Valencia.
According to a priest quoted by El Pais, after the attacks in the two churches the young man was directed to a third church, that of the Virgin of Europe, “but I don’t know if he got there”.
