The Spanish Football League called for the cancellation of the extension of the contract of French international striker Kylian Mbappe with his current team, Paris Saint-Germain, before the Administrative Court in Paris.
It also demanded the cancellation of the validation of the accounts of the Parisian club by the National Directorate of Control and Administration.
However, these two requests were rejected on the same day, due to the lack of urgency, according to what “France Press” learned from a judicial source, while the case will be considered in a longer period of time.
The new contract between Mbappe and the French champion dictates that the latter pay between 40 and 50 million in annual salary to the international striker, who extended his contract for an additional three years, according to press reports.
Franco-Spanish lawyer for the Spanish League, Juan Branco, explained to AFP: We expected that, it was a technical appeal, what matters is the verdict on the merits, adding, “But it will not be issued before the end of the 2022-2023 season.”
“Our steps at the French level are facing stiff resistance, as it is only the first step before resorting to European courts within a few months,” Branco added.
On June 21, the League demanded the “cancellation of administrative decisions” regarding “the approval of Mbappe’s contract by the French Football League,” as well as “the refusal of the National Directorate of Control and Administration to take measures regarding Paris Saint-Germain.”
Branko revealed, “The capital club’s failure to respect the standards and indicators stipulated in the regulations of the French League and the National Directorate of Control and Administration, as well as those set by the European Football Association (UEFA) through the rules of financial fair play.”
