A few days ago, Disney shared with Marvel fans the first trailer for “She Hulk: attorney at law”, a series starring Tatiana Maslany. In the case of Latin America, the company gave it the name “She-Hulk: defender of heroes”, but the attention was drawn to Spain, where ‘The house of the mouse’ decided to name the fiction as “She-Hulk: lawyer hulk”.
This name surprised fans on social networks, who did not hesitate to highlight how the distributors get creative, sometimes excessively, when adapting the original names of the productions to Spanish. In that sense, let’s review some of the most unique translations of movie titles that we have seen in Latin America and Spain.

Sometimes the literal translations are not the best and the case of the film with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder is one of them.
- Original title: “Beetlejuice”.
- In Latin America: “Beetlejuice”
- In Spain: “Bitelchus”.
- Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind”
The drama starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet had an adaptation far removed from its original idea.
- Original title: “Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind”
- In Latin America: “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”
- In Spain: “Forget about me!”.
A classic from the 80s. Impossible not to have laughed and had fun with Leslie Nielsen’s comedy films. While in Latin America most start their titles with “And where is the…?”, in Spain things were not the same.
- Original title: “Airplane!”
- In Latin America: “And, where is the pilot?”
- In Spain: Land as you can!
“Brokeback Mountain”, the film that gave Ang Lee an Oscar, kept its name in English, but the local distributor decided to add ‘on forbidden ground’, a phrase that referred to the forbidden love between the two cowboys.
- Original title: “Brokeback Mountain!”
- In Latin America: “Secret in the mountain”
- In Spain: “On forbidden land”.
A classic of the Spanish translation. Over the years, and the internet, the adaptation that Bruce Willia’s classic received in the European country has become popular. “The jungle of glass” will sound strange, but it referred to the skyscraper where the plot took place.
- Original title: “die hard”
- In Latin America: “Hard to Kill”
- In Spain: “Crystal jungle”
No fear of spoilers. In Spain, the film by Roman Polanski not only arrived to shock its audience, but also to advance the background of its plot and leave little to the imagination with its title. It received the name of “The seed of the devil”.
- Original title: “Rosemary’s baby”
- In Latin America: “Rosemary’s Baby”
- In Spain: “The seed of the devil”.
The series also received their own translations:
- “Beverly Hills 90210″ was marketed under the name “Sensation of living”
- “Dawson’s Creek” played with the lyrics of the original title and was renamed “Dawson’s Creek”.
- “Commissioner Rex” had the name of “Rex, a different policeman”
- “Three by three” obtained the title of “Forced Parents”. The Netflix series, “Fuller house”, was called “Forced Mothers”
- If in Latin America we knew her as “Sabrina, the teenage witch”, in Spain they knew her as “Sabrina, witch things”.
- “Champions: Oliver and Benji” was the name given to the anime “Captain Tsubasa”.
