Space flights The West and Russia will continue to cooperate on the space station, even though Russia has already threatened to destroy the ISS

Russian the attack on Ukraine has raised questions about whether U.S.-Russia cooperation is no longer going on at the ISS.

The space administrations, NASA in the United States and Roskosmos in Russia, “work together and train together at the station,” a NASA official Kathy Lueders said on Monday the news channel CNBC said.

At the space station currently employs seven people: Russians Anton Škaplerov and Pyotr Dubrovthe United States Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburn, Kayla Barron and Mark Vande Hey as well as German Matthias Maurer.

The station is divided into two large departments, the U.S. and Russia modules. Astronauts and cosmonauts sleep and spend their private lives in their modules but still work closely together for days.

International Throughout the 21st century, the ISS has been considered a symbol of post-Cold War cooperation.

Residents have not argued. Christmas has also been celebrated together in different departments.

Last Thursday, the sound on the clock changed at least for a moment when the director of the Russian space agency Roskosmos Dmitri Rogozin scolded on Twitter.

He wrote that US-imposed sanctions on the aviation sector could “destroy cooperation in space”.

He also pointed out that the ISS could plunge into the atmosphere and catch fire there without Russian help.

Station was built mainly with the help and money of the United States and its shuttles at the turn of the millennium. The shuttles took most of the station’s modules to Earth’s orbit.

However, the Russians have an important role to play as Russia has transported spacecraft to the station with its reliable Soyuz.

This was only highlighted in 2011 when U.S. shuttle flights were stopped. Until last year, only Russian Soyuz took astronauts to the station. Now there have been other crew ships alongside, such as the ships of the US space company SpaceX.

Soyuz is still being used, and there are plans for U.S. astronaut Mark Vande Hei to return to the country at the Russian Soyuz. The flight will take about a month.

Russia is responsible for controlling and navigating the ISS. From time to time, the Russian Progress support ship raises the station to an upper orbit so that it does not slowly spill too low into Earth’s atmosphere.

Without molecules, the station at an altitude of about 400 kilometers is no longer rare. Yet even at that altitude, the molecules strike the position and gradually slow it down.

A dense air mass could quickly heat the drive too much and it would return to reindeer. Rogozin claimed the station could strike U.S. soil.

“If anyone wants to block cooperation, then who would save the ISS from falling out of orbit?” Rogozin has tweeted.

The space station hardly orbits the Earth over Russia.

Space experts view Rogozin’s intimidation as rhetoric.

Both the United States and Russia need each other in space. Together, they make sure the station is safe.

“Hardly anyone wants to endanger the lives of astronauts with political maneuver,” said George Washington University professor emeritus John Logsdon news agency AFP from the beginning of the week.

The U.S. space administration Nasa responded calmly to Russia’s defiance. Nasa stressed that “it will continue to work with all partners, including Roskosmos of the Russian space administration”.

French academician Julie Patarin-Jossec pointed out to the news agency AFP that Rogozin is known for his outrageous statements.

Astronauts and astronauts are high-class trained professionals, and they are not affected by the rotation of station subjects on earth, Jossec said.

The work goes smoothly. However, the situation can theoretically cause China in a closed state. You can’t just get out of the place, and there is not always room to calm down.

Rogozin annoyed but did not mention Russia’s own experiment in space since last November. At that time, a satellite imagined with its own weapons was destroyed in space.

It brought more space debris into orbit in nearby space, which is already there as a danger anyway. Observers of space debris criticized the experiment very much.

The resulting space debris also threatened the ISS crew in principle.

Rogozin also recalled that a large number of satellites have recently been exported to the sky from the United States.

Hundreds and eventually even thousands of satellites provide internet access to remote areas of the earth.

Hundreds of satellites have been criticized, especially by astronomers, for interfering with the observation of natural objects in space.

The largest transmitter of satellites, a space entrepreneur Elon Muskia Rogozin did not mention.

Musk says SpaceX’s Starlink satellites will soon be active in Ukraine as well. The company has already announced that it has supplied Ukraine with equipment to connect to the sky.

The US-built support ship Cygnus and another support ship Dragon have reduced U.S. dependence on Russian ships.

The situation in space will soon be changed by the fact that the US cargo ship Cygnus has received permission from the Earth authorities to push its rocket upwards.

United States recently announced that it plans to drive the ISS station down in a controlled manner in 2031.

In the 2020s, private space stations will rise to space, which Nasak will rent and start using.

Before the war in Ukraine, the Russians promised to be at the ISS station until 2024.

If Russia withdraws from the ISS program due to war or other reasons, it threatens to be left without an occupied space program.

For astronauts there would no longer be a place to go even with a reliable Soyuz launcher. Russia drove down its own space station, Mir, as early as 2001.

Admittedly, Russia could seek cooperation with China and its space station. Rising space power China is currently building a space station christened Tiangong. It rises module by module to the orbit around the Earth.

There are still three Chinese astronauts in space on the construction site.
