Freezing was announced on June 30; Transport regulatory agency will compensate with state resources
THE artesp (Regulatory Agency for Delegated Public Transport Services of the State of São Paulo) will provide financial compensation to concessionaires affected by the freezing of toll rate adjustments on state highways. The information was published in the Official Gazette of São Paulo this Thursday (07.Jul.2022). Here’s the intact.
“Revenue not received from the tariff readjustment to which concessionaires are entitled will be rebalanced through financial compensation with bimonthly payments until the readjustment takes place”, says Artesp in the publication. The funds are from the budget of the State of São Paulo and the 1st installment will be paid on the last business day of August.
The State Department of Logistics and Transport announced the measure on June 30. According to the note, it was motivated by the “economic situation and the Brazil cost, with the unbridled rise in prices, especially of fuel,” the government said in a statement.
In response, ABCR (Associação Brasileira de Concessionárias de Rodovias) considered taking legal action against the freezing of readjustments, saying that companies still face economic effects from the pandemic. Here’s the intact (112 KB) of the ABCR press release.
To Power 360the São Paulo Transport Department stated that the freeze will prevent an increase of up to R$3.60 in toll rates on state highways.
The state governor, Rodrigo Garcia (PSDB), had said on June 30 in a radio interview Eldorado what “it is unthinkable to encumber the pockets of paulistas” with rising fuel prices. He is running for re-election this year.
