In South Africa at least 17 people found dead in Enyobeni Tavern nightclub, says local police chief Brigadier Tembinkosi of China. Several have also been injured. The cause of the accident is unknown.

Enyobeni Tavern Bar is located in the city of East London in South Africa.

According to police, the victims are young adults between the ages of 18 and 20. The accident is said to have occurred early Sunday morning.

South African media speculate that there may have been a mass panic at the bar when some unknown substance or poison has spread inside.

Some of the dead are still inside the bar. People have also been taken to the hospital from the scene. Four are said to be fighting for their spirits.

Locals tell SABC the nightclub was full of people. The place is said to have provided alcohol to minors as well and was otherwise indifferent to safety.
