With an official note from Palazzo Chigi it was announced that President Draghi “heard Gianmarco Tamberi and Marcell Jacobs on the phone and congratulated them on the historic Olympic gold medals in the high jump and in the hundred meters. The premier also spoke with the president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, and invited the athletes to Palazzo Chigi, on their return from Tokyo, to celebrate their victories ”. And in the note, the premier reiterated his esteem for the two athletes: “I am proud of you, I followed you. You are honoring Italy“.
