Just as Sony presented its strategy for the future with the conference dedicated to shareholders, the head of PlayStation ProductionsAsad Qizilbash, reported other details more specifically related to the gaming division in an interview, in which he reported that the future of video gamesaccording to PlayStation, is more related toidentification more than graphics and technical progress on this front.
“As far as the future of video games, I foresee games becoming more personalized experiences thanks to advancements in technology and AI, enabling customized experiences for each player,” Qizilbash reported.
“Technological advances will change the emotional depth of games, allowing characters to become more believable from this point of view and expressive, fueling a more evocative narrative”, according to the PlayStation executive.
AI and technological advancements at the service of identification and narration
“All this will help an entire generation of creatives to build stories with greater emotions, the focus will shift from graphic fidelity to immersive narration, which can accompany players and remain with them even after they put down the controller.”
This will also include theartificial intelligence: For Qizilbash this will be able to create “more personalized experiences and more meaningful stories”, for example “non-player characters could interact with players based on their actions, making the experience more personal”.
This is “important to younger Gen Z and Alpha audiences, who are the first generations to have grown up entirely digitally and who are looking for personalization in all areas, as well as more meaningful experiences.”
Qizilbash’s speech is a bit generic, but it falls within his role: the executive in question is in fact in charge of transforming PlayStation’s videogame franchises into franchises for global entertainment, providing on this occasion a vision of the future of PlayStation in the next few years.
During the more financial conference, Sony explained the new strategy for entertainment in a more generic sense, also imagining a futuristic controller.
