With the departure of Jim Ryan as CEO of SIE, Sony is preparing to begin a new era, and the company’s key positions have been reassigned, and the people in charge of these tasks may substantially change the way in which Sony and PlayStation they work in the future.
As part of the restructuring that Sony recently announced, the position of CEO of SIE was assigned to two people. In this way, this is the structure of PlayStation:
- Hideaki Nishino will take the position of CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Platform Business Group, as well as co-CEO of SIE
- Hermen Hulst will be appointed CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studios Business Group, as well as co-CEO of SIE.
- Hiroki Totoki will assume the role of president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, while continuing in his position as CFO of Sony Group.
This means that Nishino and Hulst will have to report directly to Totoki, all while working side by side to improve the situation of the company in general. All these changes will come into effect from next June 1, the day on which the new era for Sony will begin. On related topics, the arrival of Halo to PlayStation is imminent. Likewise, a new PlayStation Portable would be on the way.
Author’s Note:
This new era for PlayStation will be marked by a very important factor: ports. The company has realized that bringing its experiences to PC is an important business, and they have no plans to abandon this. Along with this, it is likely that more agreements will be reached with Xbox to bring this company’s experiences to the PS5.
