The Republic of Somalia celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, yesterday, in the presence of Ahmed Tahir Mohamed, Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Somalia to the country, and with the wide participation of the Somali community. Saleh Saif Al Shehhi, Deputy Director of the Department of Arab Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was at the forefront of the Somali delegation’s arrival at the platform of nations, where the national flag of the UAE and Somalia were raised and the national anthems of the two countries were played. Al Shehhi praised Somalia’s meaningful and effective participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, considering the brotherly country’s presence as an opportunity for the world to learn about Somalia’s successes and development in various sectors, and a platform to present Somalia’s future plans to attract investors. He added, “We in the UAE always look forward to expanding our cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries to achieve common interests.” For his part, Ahmed Tahir Mohamed said: “Somalia and the UAE have unique and lasting historical relations between their peoples and governments, shaped by brotherhood, cooperation and a common history.” He stressed that Somalia has embarked on its sustainable development plan based on trade and investment to support the economy.
