Subaru arrived at the Tokyo Motor Show showing her idea of sportiness and dynamism, binding herself as never before to the world of electric cars. The Pleiades brand showed, through the activities of the STI division, the record-breaking STI E-RA concept; and has already done her first cosmetic surgery on the suv Solterra.
The latter got a roof spoiler, a specific coloring with aggressive combinations regarding the rims and lower section of the car; further spoilers in the lower part of the vehicle, highlighted by the cherry red color. The colorway is curiously similar to that long used by Hyundai for its sporty ‘N’ models. Subaru brought this model to Tokyo in parallel with what Toyota did with the bZ4x suv; the two cars are in fact ‘twins’ on a technical level and for both the significance of this expedition is to give their electric offer a more youthful and modern taste.
Subaru has not released data or technical specifications relating to this model, and it is not clear if its possible commercialization will go beyond the Japanese borders.
In its basic version, the new Subaru Solterra is 4,690 meters long, 1,860 meters wide and 1,650 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2,850 meters. The powertrain is made up of two motors, AC synchronous units located on both axes that respectively deliver 80 kW for a total system power of 160 kW. The 71.4 kWh battery guarantees a range of about 460 km in the WLTP cycle. As for charging, the new Subaru Solterra is compatible with a charger in alternating current up to 6.6 kW and in direct current up to 150 kW.
