Leveling only It is a title that has probably passed everyone’s lips, but depending on your sources of information (and your interests) it may not have been on yours, despite the explosive success. Making a simple comparison, it’s a kind of Jujutsu Kaisen webtoon counterpart. Na honjaman level up, literally “I only level up”, can in fact be considered the launching pad for Star Comics towards the vast world of Webtoon to which Tower of God has also been added, precisely on June 16. One had thus formed around the exit of the manhwa certain expectation that, if we consider even the need to immediately reprint the variant edition, it was certainly not disappointed. So let’s go briefly to see the history, the settings and the strong points of this manhwa that, we might as well say it immediately, you must absolutely buy!
An intriguing and compelling storyline
About a decade before this story began, various portals known as “Gate“, And at the same time many individuals have received special powers useful for combat. Go through the gates to face the monsters inside them, obtaining treasures and miscellaneous drop, has become a real job, and those who follow this path are called “Hunters“And are classified by grade, from E to S. Sung Jin-Woo, the protagonist of the series, is one of these individuals, and specifically one with a level of combat so low as to make him “the weakest soldier“Of humanity.
Despite his lack of strength, however, he continues to carry out his tasks, without glory, but only out of necessity, but managing to return each time from the various missions … albeit bruised. But one day, crossing a portal in Seoul (the story takes place in Korea), Jin-Woo comes across a “dungeon”Special, having to face situations clearly beyond out of his reach… Until you come face to face with death. Will our weak protagonist be able to survive? And will this be the turning point in your Hunter career? You will surely find out in subsequent volumes.
Solo Leveling, a breathtaking shounen
If there is a particularity that made it Leveling only a mainstay of webtoons, in addition to history captivating (which you will be passionate about if you follow the subsequent publications), it is certainly theupsetting beginning, from every point of view. Not only a graphic quality of the highest level, generally impossible to see in a manga where the author improves his style chapter by chapter, but also an innovative and frenetic starting point. We certainly have an introduction, some basic notion, but the reader comes immediately immersed in the plot, and not through a traumatic event that involves a family member (or some friend, as often happens) but the protagonist himself, whose fate we are not given to know. One start certainly atypical for one shounen, which however creates abreathtaking atmosphere and entices you to devour the story chapter after chapter. Only the second volume, recently released, will be able to appease our curiosity for a few moments, before enchanting us again with the rapid succession of events, mixed with mystery and little information so dear to the player.
The “Gate”, a mysterious portal that connects the human world to that of terrible monsters, puts the lives of human beings at risk. People with special powers, the “hunters”, fight to oppose them. Sung Jinwoo is very weak, with no special skills, and is listed as a “level E” hunter. Despite this, he tries his best to carry out his task and pay for his mother’s medical bills … But one day, following an inexplicable event, Jinwoo begins to develop his powers … May he become an unbeatable hunter of ” level S “?

Out of the ordinary technical features
Let’s start by saying that no cuts or additions were needed for this manhwa. Unlike others it proceeds sent in the narrative, exposing the facts, the action, leaving only the context to the imagination: the psychological part itself is mostly defined by the succession of events. The Solo Leveling structure is solid and it undoubtedly appears clear, with hinges already defined in the first chapters, but we can assure you that it will remain so also for those to follow, between mysteries, abilities and new scenarios. However, the precise and detailed description, reduced to the indispensable, is not the only factor that fascinated the public from the beginning: the first 6 chapters del webtoon are in fact characterized by an impressive graphic quality. As previously said, beginnings of the genre are more unique than rare, and the graphic transposition was nothing short of optimal: the images and colors, which are one of the strengths of this title, are vivid and very detailed, and we are sure that even in the paper these characteristics remain such.
The scenarios and outlines are not simply backgrounds, but an integral part of the work, with such a quality that at times they capture the attention even more than the characters in the foreground.
There is little to say, if the story of Chu-Gong perfectly reinterprets some canons of RPGs, inserting brilliant evolutions to the plot, the drawings of the Redice Studio, already author of Beautiful Legends (and recently engaged in the graphic part of two other works) are no less, on the contrary … it can be said that Solo Leveling deserves to be read even only for theexcellent graphic transposition. A combination that already makes this first volume a “must read“!
A big step for Solo Leveling
Bringing a webtoon in paper format, with all the problems related to the transposition of continuous horizontal scrolling scenes in a reading by pages, has certainly not been easy. Star Comics must be acknowledged for not having messed up a fundamental stage for many fans, making a very famous story accessible to a more “classic” public only in certain environments. A classic story, but not canonical, with enough violence and feelings, incredible settings and surprising levels of epicity. All this makes Leveling only indispensable for a good pop culture, and those who have not yet read it will wonder why, before launching into this new world. A comic series that we advise you to welcome to your library as soon as possible.
An announced success
