The Russian Armed Forces servicemen who remained surrounded in the Kursk region for about a month after the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) attacked the region have been withdrawn. The commander of the Akhmat special forces, deputy head of the main military-political department of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Apti Alaudinov, spoke about the rescue of the fighters. According to him, the special forces did not have direct access to the encircled Russian military. “Of course, if they wanted to abandon their positions and leave, they would have left. But this is a very important logistics hub, so we could not give it up until we had already firmly established ourselves in the next area. After that, we withdrew these guys,” Alaudinov added.
The commander of Akhmat reported that all the rescued fighters are in hospitals; most of them were taken from the Kursk region for treatment in Moscow and other Russian regions.
Earlier, Alaudinov announced the escape of Ukrainian military personnel from the Donetsk direction towards Kyiv. He emphasized that Russian military personnel are confidently advancing into the DPR.
