Sofía Coll: “The market has changed, but that does not mean that you have to do ‘Fast Food with music”

It is currently more common for artists to throw simple than albums. How do you value this change in the way of consuming music?It is true that it is all very fleeting, but in the end what endures in time is the essence of an artist, what counts. I think that albums and EPs are very important, because if you don’t stay in something much more superficial. Obviously, we live in a high consumption world in which everything is very fast, and that is why the strategy of getting song by song. There the strategies have to be changed, but not the background work, the grounds of what an artist has to tell. We are communicators, we come to express ourselves so that people use it for whatever. We are at the foot of the work. It is a complicated moment in which everyone is adapting, because there is a high consumption of everything and it is all very fast, but I want to think that there are people who listen to whole records; I do it. Obviously, the market is different, there is not so much purchase of discs because everything is changing, but that does not mean that we have to stop taking care of a message or an aesthetic or that we have to do Fast food (fast food) with music. At least my project is not a project of Fast food.

And how do you value that tendency to try to launch songs that can be viralized in networks?
It seems very crazy, we are in a moment of change so big that it is so fast that it does not give us time to adapt. On the one hand, you think it is cool, but on the other, you say ‘apart from writing, compose, organize millions of things, I have to combine it with thinking about trends.’ I am not able to make a song thinking about him Trend From Tiktok, it should be the other way around. But each master has their booklet and hopefully to have that ability to make a little little little little thing viral. That is also an art. I have love-as this, but hey, it is adapting or dying. What do you think could disappear in favor of Trends of networks?Many times the video clips disappear, it is already happening, and instead things are done on Tiktok. I understand that it is an investment in something else, but a video clip tells you more things, puts you inside the universe. A Tiktok video can be done at the number of numbers, to make you more viral, and it is true that you no longer need a video clip to work on a song, but you have to think in the long term. To me, if I am going to look for an artist, I like to find that he has all audiovisual content. We have recorded a precious audiovisual piece that is called Auroraboreal: A Short Film And go through all the songs. As we had a budget to make a video clip for each song, I wanted to make an audiovisual piece where to continue exploring this universe and, above all, to bring dance, which is a very important piece in my project, with the theater and with fashion.

In his songs he sings in Spanish, Catalan, English … Does he use all these languages ​​as another tool in his songs?I also speak French, but not to compose. Indeed, for me the language is still an expressive tool and a sound element: each language sounds different, so it would be absurd not to use it because I would be playing against me. It is my reality, but there is no intentionality, I just wanted to be as organic as possible.

His musical career passed through television since in 2014 he competed in The Kids voiceHow do you value this experience?
Very positively, and every television experience has served me. With 14 years I enter The Kids voice Without having an idea of ​​anything, I did not know anyone in the industry and, suddenly, I was with many children who are dedicating themselves to this. A universe opened to me and I saw that it was possible to devote himself to it, that it was a profession. He also helped me self -esteem, because public acceptance makes you realize that you sing well and think you can work on it.

I had been dedicating myself to it since I was Dinner shows (shows with dinner), to cabarets, to private parties, and I already went with tables and security. My goal was for people to know me on stage and that my whole project had reach, because being an emerging artist is very difficult and television gives you exposure.

Would you go to another program again?Not right now. I am very happy, everything has had its course and now my project is full. I am also working as a presenter in Èpic nails3cat, and I’m making a living with music, which has cost me. I have been here for many years, without having anyone inside the industry in my family or anything like that.

In 2024 the Benidorm Fest arrived, where he presented himself with Here to Stay. How do you remember the program?
It was a very crazy experience, because it was also self -financed and self -managed. Thank God, he had recorded Èpic nails And I could afford it. Benidorm Fest is a format that goes a lot with my person and served me a lot to capture my universe and that people knew my project beyond television. It was a very cool platform and I got a lot of love of the Eurofans. I am overwhelmed.

Did you notice a growth of listening after Benidorm Fest?In my case, yes. Obviously, everything that goes up, goes down; It is impossible for something to stay when it is at its highest peak. But I would say that many people who like my message have been left and it serves something. And now I am noticing it in everything I am throwing.

And did this mean the arrival of new musical opportunities?Yes. We did the Pride tour throughout Spain, I have been singing in Catalan in Seville or the Canary Islands, where has that been seen? It doesn’t matter what language you are singing, you see that your message, your universe, gets much further and the interesting thing is the emotion you generate in people.
